Benefits of Evans High Temperature Capacitors

Evans Capacitors are a range of hybrid Wet Tantalum capacitors designed for high current operations in harsh conditions.

The novel technology allows for high capacitance beyond that available in standard wet tantalum technology, to operate at significant voltages and high currents to give high power capability, either in pulsed applications due to their low ESR, or hold up applications due to their combination of high capacitance and low ESR.

In addition the construction method and materials used allows for use in high temperature applications up to and beyond 200 deg C. One consideration is the lifetime of operation under these conditions, and Evans capacitors have been precisely tested and documented to offer extended lifetimes at high temperatures.

They come in 2 form factors,  the traditional radial (HyCap) wet tantalum package, and the circular ‘pill type’  (THQA-HT) package.

High Temperature HyCap Series Hybrid capacitors are designed for operation up to 200°C. HC-HT capacitors provide a full rated life of 2,000 hours at 200°C and HC2-HT capacitors are rated for 1,000 hours at 200°C.

THQA2-HT Series hybrid capacitors are suitable for operation up to 200°C. THQA2-HT Hybrid Capacitors are in the same form factor as the standard THQA2, with a life of 1,000 hours at 200°C or 2,000 hours at 175°C.

Both designs are ideal for applications that are mission critical, including defence and down hole Oil & Gas.
